Line Breeding Themes

Our “Foundation Mare”, Zena QV, Granddaughter of Quidam De Revel and Burggraaf. is a lovely, genetically rich mare with a potent-pedigree second to none.  Her bloodlines carries very high concentrations and gender balance of the worlds top show-jumpers with an Alme Z sire line and a Ramiro Z dam line.

Breeding around the themes of great show jumpers is much easier using today’s modern breeding databases.   We hypothetically mate hundreds of sires to Zena QV and her daughters to get a genetic profile similar to the horses listed below.

Quintender (Montender x Zena QV) born 2022

Contender is considered one of the greatest of the stallions to descend from Cor de la Bryère.  His son Montender is a perfect match with Zena QV to create a highly concentrated, powerful pedigree with high coefficient of in-breeding.  This breeding resulted in a beautiful little filly “Quintender” born in 2022.

We were inspired by an article in Kathleen Kirson’s book ???? titled “Contender: Concentrated Excellence” where her research states “Contender inherited strong genetic material from his sire. but his dam ratcheted it up yet another notch… Contender is a study in how to preserve the great lines of yesteryear.”  She goes on to state “If a mare carries a daughter of Rantzau or a Ladykiller son–both lines which already have nice reinforcement behind them, no matter the rest of the pedigree, this will create a power configuration…”

His son, the multiple champion Montender (two time Olympic medallist) has the Ladykiller son which would explain why he was so successful.

We were able to add the Ladykiller son twice again on the Zena QV line to get a very tightly bred filly.

Kathleen goes on to conclude “To me, this stallion is all about perfection — a masterpiece…here is a modern day conduit of the Holstein power,”

Our resident Stallion, Grama Open Main (Chachi), consistently stamps his progeny with athleticism, size, scope, conformation and a great mind. We also breed in bloodlines of high quality ancestors via local and European stallions.

With a small group of genetically rich mares, they have powerful pedigrees culminating out of the Zena QV (Quite Easy/Quidam de Revel x Burggraaf) line. This allows us to custom breed with a variety of themes.
